Image Effects

To apply effects and/or color corrections to your photo, select one or more images on your page, then click on the Image FX tab.

Be cautious when adding effects to your images. Your computer monitor is most likely not color-calibrated  --  color and effect intensity may be much different on your printed book that what your screen displays. Sreens are luminous, unlike a printed page, so differences in light/dark and colors may appear more vivid that the final printed results. (For example, neon colors cannot be printed.)

Brightness

Change the overall amount of light in your image.

Contrast

Change the amount of difference between light and dark areas in your image.

Saturation

Change the intensity of color in your image.

Grayscale

Desaturate the color from your image.

Sepia

Replace the color with brown/golden tones, for an antique look.

Hue-Rotation (recolor)

Transform the colors in your image. Note that this slider does not tint your photo, but shift the color on the color gamut.

Hue-rotation option is best used to reversion backgrounds & clipart to match your page's color scheme. Turn one background into multiple color variants, or retint clipart.

Invert

Reverse the color in your image.
This option is best used to create background color variations.

Blur

Defocus your image.
Use blur to create a diffuse background effect.

Opacity

Make  your image more transparent, where content underneath an image can be seen.
Use transparency to create overlayed images, such as clipart added over photos.

Flip Horizontally
Flip Vertically

Turn on horizontal flip to mirror-image photos on a left-right axis. Turn on vertical flip to mirror-image photos top-down.

This effect is useful for creating "bookend" clipart or mirrored backgrounds.
