Portrait flow tips

  • Portraits are added to your book directly on the book ladder. Do not add blank pages to your book ladder reserved for portrait pages

  • Create separate sections for your portrait flow by group. Grid settings apply to all groups within a single sections, so if special formatting is required, keep your portrait groups separated.
    • Create one section for staff portraits.
    • Create separate sections for each grade or any class that needs special formatting
    • Optionally create a separate section for senior class portraits.

  • Do not rename groups in the portrait manager after flowing or their pages will disappear. For example, a kIndergarten teacher goes by the name "Ms Smith: at the start of the year, but changes her name to "Mrs. Jones" after her class page has been flow, update her portrait's last name to Jones, update the portrait page title to Mrs. Jones' Kindergarten class, but do not reassign all her portrait and her students to Teacher: Jones.

  • Candid pages may be added or moved between portrait pages after they have been flown to the ladder

Adding a portrait flow to your book

A- Create a section for your portrait flow.

  • Click on the + between sections.
  • Type a name for the section and choose a color.
  • Add to book.

Recommendation: create one section per grade, plus a section for staff and the senior class.

Do not add pages to sections for portraits. They will auto-generate pages when you add a flow to the section.
B- Add a portrait flow to the section.

  • Click on Add Portrait Pages on the right side of the section..

C- Add one or more portrait groups to the section.
  • In the left column, alist of groups is provided: flow by Grade, Teacher, Homeroom, or Department.
  • Checkmark the group(s) to include in the section.
  • Click on the > button to move them to the right-side column.
  • Click Next Step to proceed.

  • To flow an entire grade not separate by classroom groups, choose just the Grade group.
  • To flow a grade by classroom groups, choose a Grade+Teacher or Grade+Homeroom group, or just the Teacher / Homeroom group.

D-  Change the order of the groups (Optional)
If desired, reorder the groups. Click down and drag them into a new order. Click Next step when done.

Step 5  Launch the pages in the editor to customize them (Optional).

  • If you want to immediately work on the portrait page customization, choose yes.
  • Choose No, I'll do this later to continue working on the ladder.

Results: a basic portrait flow appears in the section, ready to edit!

Reflowing portrait groups

If changes are required to the group order or the groups included within a section, simply return to the book ladder to the section to repeat the steps above.

Click Edit portrait pages on the right side of the section.

  • Remove a group from the section by moving it from the right-side column to the left-side column. The entire page will be deleted from the book when the page disappears.
  • Add another group to the section, select it from the left-side column then move it to the right side column, A new portrait page will be added to the section, ready for customization.
  • Change the order of groups by dragging them to a new position. The groups will rearrange accordingly, preserving all customization (grid and styling, candids, backgrounds, elements).
