Should you choose to design interior pages and/or covers outside of Memento, follow these recommendations prior to creating your pages. If recommended dimensions are not followed, your designs may be low resolution, leading to poor quality print.

Interior pages

If your book is a standard 8.5x11" size, interior pages are usually sized to 8.75″ x 11.25″ @ 300 dpi (2625 x 3375 pixels). This dimension ensure best possible results, keep all important content 0.5" from the page edges. Your pages will be trimmed during the production process, so leaving an ample margin will ensure that text, people's faces and any important elements are not clipped or awkwardly placed to close to the edge of the page.

Ensure that all backgrounds and banners that span the width/height of the page extend to the outer edges of your page.

Export your design to a JPG file at 300 dpi, then import it in the same manner as a photo to Memento yearbook album. Add the page design as a full page background to fill the entire page.

Covers

Cover sizes vary according to your publisher's settings. Hard cover books have a much larger cover dimension than a soft cover book, and spine width change with the number of pages in your book.

  •  If you are creating a fully digital cover with feature art, text and other elements that need to be aligned to the spine and page edges, contact your publisher to ask them for precise canvas dimensions and margins.

  • If you are creating a custom background that spans the back and front cover that does not include feature elements or text, then set the canvas to 20 x 13" (6000x3900 pixels to ensure good results. This may be used as a full cover background or inset to the safe margins in the Memento editor.

Note that up to 1" of the cover edges may not be visible on hard cover books, since part of the background will wrap over the backside of the cover board. Export your design to a JPG file at 300 dpi, then import it in the same manner as a photo to Memento yearbook album. Add the page design as a full page background to fill the entire cover, or inset it to the safe margins to create a border around the edges.
