In the portrait manager, homeroom teachers usually appear in the same group as other staff -- for example, they may be in a grade named "Staff" or "Faculty." Many elementary yearbooks place homeroom teachers on the same portrait page as their class set, with their portraits appearing in the first row before all the students and occasionally featured in a larger frame. To accomplish this goal, follow these steps:
First, decide if the homeroom teachers will ONLY appear with their students or if they will also appear on the staff page.
- If they appear on the staff page AND their homeroom page, then duplicate their portrait. Select each homeroom teacher individually, then click Duplicate at the bottom of the page in the blue bar.
The copy of the portrait will open ready to edit. Re-assign the teacher to the same grade and teacher group (or homeroom) as their students. Save this change. The new copy of the portrait will move to the class group. - If the teachers only appear on their homeroom page, edit the teacher's same grade and teacher/homeroom group as their class directly in the portrait editor (using the Table view for convenience). Save these changes. The teacher's portrait will move to their class group.
Second, once the teachers' portraits have been added to their class groups, select each classroom individually and locate the teacher's portrait. Checkmark the portrait, then click on Assign role on the blue bar at the bottom of the page.
Make the teacher into the role of "Teacher" (or "Assistant Teacher" if applicable). By assigning this role, the teacher will move to the top of the group, out of alphabetical order.
When portraits are flowed, the teachers will automatically appear at the top of their page. Details on how to make the teachers' photos larger on their portrait page are available here.
